Atypical cutaneous tuberculosis in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis treated with infliximab.

چکیده
Sir, Anti-tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) agents, such as infliximab, adalimumab and etanercept, are remarkably effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Crohn's disease and psoriasis vulgaris (1–4). Recent case reports have described the treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa (5) and acne conglobata (6) with infliximab. Regardless of the dramatic improvement in symptoms, it has been documented that various infections, such as tuberculosis, pneumocystis and aspergillosis, often develop among patients treated with these agents (7). We report here a patient with RA who developed atypical cutaneous tuberculosis following the administration of infliximab.

Primary Breast Lymphoma with cutaneous involvement in a patient with Rheumatoid Arthritis - a complication of infliximab therapy?
It is well established that rheumatoid arthritis is associated with an increased risk of lymphoma. The use of tumor-necrosis factor-α inhibitors as a therapy in rheumatoid arthritis has been related to higher incidence of lymphoma arising at atypical and/or unusual locations; however, recent data shows their safety. We report the case of a 79 year-old woman with rheumatoid arthritis treated wit...
متن کاملPulmonary infectious complications associated with anti-TNFalpha therapy (infliximab) for rheumatoid arthritis.
Two patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) that developed serious infectious complications following anti-TNFalpha therapy (infliximab) are reported. Patient 1 developed tuberculosis with high fever, refractory diarrhea and mediastinal lymphadenopathy. Trans-bronchial needle biopsy was useful to confirm the diagnosis. Patient 2 showed sudden onset of dyspnea with diffuse bilateral lung infiltr...
متن کاملMycobacterium other than tuberculosis (MOTT) infection: an emerging disease in infliximab-treated patients.
OBJECTIVES Infliximab has revolutionized treatment of rheumatologic diseases and inflammatory bowel disease. However, it increases the risk of tuberculosis. Less is known about the development of Mycobacterium other than tuberculosis (MOTT) infection. We review the literature on non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections in infliximab-treated patients and report the first case of disseminated Myc...

متن کاملA case of peritoneal TB causing renal failure in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis and initial negative PPD after treatment with infliximab.
Opportunistic infection and reactivation of latent infection has been reported with use of monoclonal TNF alpha antibodies used for treatment of severe rheumatoid arthritis. We present a case of peritoneal tuberculosis (TB) causing renal failure secondary to ureteral constriction in a patient who had been treated with infliximab for rheumatoid arthritis. We suggest that physicians should be awa...
